A local version of TED—a series of conferecnes dedicated to "ideas worth spreading" and known for its inspirational speeches by important figures such as Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Jane Goodall and Malcome Gladwell—is coming to Somerville.
TEDxSomerville will take place March 4 at The Center for Arts at the Armory, and the theme of the conference is "creative economy ... sustainable community."
Speakers will include Brian Whitman, co-founder of Somerville's The Echo Nest, Marcos Santos, a Brazilian-born musician who's performed with the likes of Paquito D’Rivera and the Gipsy Kings, and Schuyler Towne, a top-level competitive lock picker.
Tonight on SCATV's "Greater Somerville," hosts Joe Lynch and KyAnn Anderson will interview C. Todd Lombardo, executive director of TEDxSomerville.
