UPDATED AT 12:25 p.m.

Friends of Historic Somerville donned britches and bonnets as they led the curious around Milk Row Cemetery during the SomerStreets Festival yesterday. The ghosts of Somerville stretched their creaky bones and extended ice cold hands to the public, welcoming them for a rare tour of the 19th century graveyard. The ghoulish guides told stories of their lives and deaths and even answered a few questions along the way.

Scroll down to the slideshow below to hear some of their stories.

Special thanks to the friendly ghosts (in order of appearance): Justin Villalta as Samuel Tufts; Barbara Mangum as Clariana Bailey; Brianna Xavier as Sarah Wardwell; Carl Spagnoli as Osgood Dane; Alice Clegg as Emeline Dane; Kristi Chase as Anna Rand; Lucy Glazier as Harriet Lealand; Jennifer Silva as George Bean; Gina Boyle as Phineas Howe; and Anne Stearns as the Nameless British Regular.
