Somerville to Face Rockport in 'High School Quiz Show'
Somerville's side of the bracket in the elimination-rounds tournament includes last year's champion.
Somerville High School, which is one of 16 schools from Massachusetts competing in WGHB's "High School Quiz Show," will face off against Rockport in the opening round of the tournament, and the episode will air on March 4.
Somerville was one of 91 public school districts in the state that fought for a place on the show, now entering its third season, which is hosted by television personality Bill Costa.
If Somerville beats Rockport in the first round of the tournament, the team will move on to face either Beverly or Acton-Boxborough in the quarterfinals round.
Somerville will have some stiff competition if it wants to make the final round; its side of the bracket includes Hamilton-Wrenthem, last year's champion.
This year, the Somerville team is composed entirely of junior and sophomores.
In "The High School Quiz Show," schools compete against each other in elimination rounds, much like the Sweet 16 bracket in the NCAA basketball tournament. See the bracket here.
