Snowy Scenes from Winter Hill

Many--but not all businesses in Winter Hill are closed today. PLUS: Photo Gallery of Winter Hill residents digging out and having fun.

Residents of the Winter Hill neighborhood were surprisingly cheery despite the rough wintery weather that made for difficult walking and driving conditions, not to mention hours of shoveling for some.

Ronnie, a 17-year resident of Dartmouth St. said he "loved a good snow storm" as he shoveled off of his steps this afternoon. Ronnie said his neighbor, Mario, stopped by with a snow blower to help him clear the sidewalks, lightening the shoveling duty for him a little bit.

He plans on heading to the Fells tomorrow for some snow shoeing as the snow will be perfect for it after this storm he said.

Another resident, Ryan, donned a pair of snowshoes just to get around the neighborhood. I spotted Ryan and Mishtu on their way to Walgreens to pick up a prescription.

A little further down Broadway, I stopped into Leone's Subs.

"Don't you worry, we're open" said Vic Leone, as half a dozen customers (including Somerville FireFighters) waited in the shop.

Also open---Winter Hill Liquors, Shivalic Foods and Spices, the Post Office, Citi Bank, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and the 350 Food Mart
