ORIGINAL STORY:

A manhunt is underway on Monday night for a suspect after shots were fired in connection with a vehicle chase involving an alleged stolen vehicle, according to public safety transmissions and the city's official Twitter account.

Initial reports came in around 9:30 p.m. of a stolen vehicle chase in the area of Leonard Street and Somerville Police reporting that shots were fired, according to unconfirmed scanner reports.

The vehicle chase became a foot pursuit in the area of Leonard Street, Mike Moura reported on Twitter via radio reports.

Around 9:40 p.m., reports said two suspects were in custody but police continued to search for a third suspect, requesting a K9 unit and calling in a Massachusetts State Police helicopter to assist with the search.

As of 10:48 p.m., police continued to search for the third suspect. The city's official Twitter account, @SomervilleCity, said: "Police pursuit of possibly armed suspect in W. #Somerville Tufts/Powderhouse area is under way. If in the area, please stay inside."
