Rat Video Wins Award, Pub Trivia and More

Five things to know today.

 

1) City’s Rat Video Wins Award

No, not that Ratt video: Somerville’s rodent prevention video “Rats Go Home – How to Prevent Rodents from Entering Your Home” was awarded the Alliance for Community Media’s best instructional and training video award.  The silent film uses humor and some adorable kids to show residents how to keep vermin out of their homes.

2) Show Us Your Halloween Costumes

Does your son or daughter have a great costume planned for this Halloween? Upload their picture for a chance to win Patch’s Little Pumpkin Costume Challenge. The nationwide winner gets a trip for two to New York or Los Angeles, where they’ll meet Heidi Klum. The top ten finishers will have $1,031 donated in their name to the charity of their choice.

3) Discuss ‘October Sky’

“October Sky” is a beloved book and solid movie. The Somerville Library’s West Branch is hosting a discussion of both tonight at 7:30 p.m..

4) Pub Trivia        

Johnny D’s hosts pub trivia tonight at 8:30 p.m.. Is the competition not enough for you? They’re also selling $1 hot dogs from 6-10 p.m..

5) Weather        

Expect sunny skies and a high temperature in the lower 60’s, according to the National Weather Service.
