Police Issue Arrest Warrants in Connection to Shooting, Say Marijuana Was Involved
Police are seeking two people who they believe are connected to a Saturday shooting in Winter Hill.
Somerville Police Chief Thomas Pasquarello said his department has issued arrest warrants for two people in connection to the Saturday shooting in Winter Hill that sent one man to the hospital and left bullet holes in a car and house in the neighborhood.
The shooting was "drug related, over marijuana," the chief said, speaking at a Ward 4 ResiStat meeting Wednesday night. Ward 4 includes the Winter Hill neighborhood.
"The players who were involved were not from the city per se," Pasquarello said.
Speaking after the meeting, Deputy Chief Paul Upton said the warrants were issued Wednesday and that they carry charges of assault with a deadly weapon and armed assault with intent to kill.
"We are aggressively seeking to place those people in custody," Upton said.
Pasquarello said the immediate neighborhood where the shooting took place, on Evergreen Avenue near the intersection of Marshall Street, "is not an area where there's a lot of crime."
"It's a safe neighborhood, it's a safe city, it's a safe ward," he said to the residents at the meeting.
