Home in Winter Hill.

No one ever called Somerville shy when it comes to Christmas lights. Walk, bike or drive around the city, and you'll see some of the most creative and jaw-dropping holiday decorations in the Boston area.

This year, there are some fun ways to experience the city's festive appearance.

Illuminations Tour

On Saturday, the Somerville Arts Council is running its "Illuminations" trolley tour of lights in the city. The 45-minute tour starts at city hall, and there will also be coffee, hot chocolate, cookies, choral music, and crafts for children. See here for more information.

If you're interested, you can also do the Illuminations Tour by bike. The Somerville Bicycle Committee is hosting a bike tour, also on Saturday. It begins at 6:20 p.m. at Somerville High School.

If you can't make the trolley or bike tour, you can buy a map of the Illuminations Tour at Blue Cloud Gallery in Ball Square or at Magpie in Davis Square.

Patch contest

Here at Patch, we're running a nationwide contest to find the best dressed house.
If you upload a photo of your decorated house, you could win $500 toward your December electricity bill.

What's more, you could even win $100,000 for Somerville public schools.

See here to upload photos and learn more about the contest.

Thanks! I'll be watching for these during tomorrow's bike tour.

Where specifically is the Summer Street house? (The other streets you took pictures on are short, but Summer Street is very long)

Sorry, I got the street wrong. It was at School and Avon St.

If so, I think that is former mayor Dorothy Kelly Gay's house.
