Joey Ellison, a 9-year-old Somerville resident being treated for pulmonary atresia, a life-threatening heart condition, met his favorite Red Sox player, Dustin Pedroia, at Fenway Park on July 30.

Ellison, who was with his Cambridge Little League team (he just moved to Somerville recently), also met Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine, and the team watched that day's Red Sox game against the Detroit Tigers.

The visit was organized by Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, which grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
