Local farmer David Graham visited students at the Edgerly building of the East Somerville Community School on Friday to talk about organic farming, according to Tai Dinnan, the gardens coordinator for Groundwork Somerville

The purpose of the visit, Dinnan wrote in an email, was to "increase student appreciation for the work it takes to produce food, transport it to urban communities such as Somerville, and serve it in healthy and appetizing meals."

Graham and Dinnan also talked to students about how they could get involved in growing their own food at school, through gardening clubs or other Groundwork Somerville programs.

Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom, Inc. helped coordinate the program.
