Photos: Carnaval in East Somerville

Now in its second year, the SomerStreets program celebrates a vibrant street life in Somerville by organizing five festive events throughout the summer. Streets are closed to traffic, and visitors are encouraged to walk, bike, dance and otherwise enjoy themselves.

The first SomerStreets event of the year took place Sunday with Carnaval in East Somerville. Circus performers and musicians, among other exciting spectacles, were on tap. We sent our photographer, and here are some photos.
