Person Falls from Second-Floor Mezzanine in Stop & Shop
The incident happened Wednesday morning, and the person who fell was not a Stop & Shop employee.
A person fell Wednesday morning from a second-floor mezzanine inside the Super Stop & Shop on McGrath Highway.
The Somerville Fire Department responded to the supermarket at about 8:03 a.m. and was cleared from the scene by 8:15 a.m., according to Fire Chief Kevin Kelleher.
Suzi Robinson, a spokesperson for Stop & Shop, confirmed the incident and said the person who fell was not one of the store's employees.
As of Wednesday afternoon, neither Robinson nor Kelleher had information regarding the extent of the injuries suffered by the person who fell.
Robinson said the supermarket was looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident. She did not go into further detail, saying she had a responsibility to protect the identity and privacy of the person who fell.
The second-floor mezzanine is not part of the supermarket generally open to the public.
