i don't know if jehlan is right or wrong. i do not live nearby nor am i sufficiently informed on this issue.
far more important here is that she actually spoke out on a local issue.why is this important?
local somerville projects, especially housing developments, are a lock in somerville if they are supported by our chief executive. many of these developments are harming the landscape and the economy. for example, Maxwell's Green, which rents it's aparments from $2,000.00 to $4000.00, if it is successful will raise the rents in all of somerville.these are rents only the wealthy can afford. other developments, cram all the apartments and offices they can into intrusive neighborhood obelisks.
our best public servants are in the state house and congress. since the board of aldermen has lost all self respect and it's members are only puppets, our state officials must begin speaking out more often on municipal issues. someone has to stop somerville's slide into 'boutiqueness' and a port for only the upper class.
