Opening Arguments in Ferreira Murder Trial Scheduled For This Morning
Antonio Marcos Ferreira, of Somerville, is accused of killing an Everett woman in 2009.
Opening arguments in the case against Somerville resident Antonio Marcos Ferreira, who was charged with murdering Sheila Dos Santos, of Everett, in 2009, are scheduled to take place in Middlesex County Superior Court this morning.
Ferreira, who was 38 at the time of the alleged murder, is accused of stabbing Dos Santos to death in the early morning hours of Oct. 2, 2009, according to an announcement from the Middlesex District Attorney's office.
According to the announcement, Ferreira dated Dos Santos, but the two had been broken up for seven months when the alleged murder took place.
The announcement says Ferreira told the victim that if she wouldn't date him, she wouldn't be able to date anyone.
When police responded to 154 Main St., Everett, at about 4:32 a.m. that day—Oct. 2, 2009—they found Dos Santos stabbed to death, the announcement says.
When Ferreira was indicted on Nov. 18, 2009, prosecutors argued Ferreira was in the vicinity of the incident and there was DNA evidence connecting him to the alleged murder, according to the announcement.
He is charged with first degree murder.
