Online Tool Matches Voters with Ideal Presidential Candidate

Try iSideWith.com, an online political tool that matches your stance on various issues with those of Mitt Romney, Barack Obama others running for president, such as Jill Stein, the Green Party's candidate.
The site was launched earlier this year to help voters match up with their ideal candidate, and it's quickly gaining popularity through social media channels. In fact, according to iSideWith.com's homepage, more than a million people have taken the free quiz to determine their ideal candidate since it went live in March.
The quiz covers everything from social issues to foreign policy. Answers can also be fine tuned: You can choose general or more detailed responses, and a scale allows you to set the level of importance for each issue. Your responses are then analyzed to determine your ideal candidate, complete with a breakdown of your response matches.

The interesting thing is that even in red states like Texas the people who took this poll preferred Obama over Romney, so either more Democrats are taking the poll OR a lot of people don't realize that they actually agree with Obama.

Paula: A lot of people have been so thoroughly brain-washed by the Republican media machine (and passed the washing along to their children) that they haven't thought for themselves on political issues in their lifetimes. It's just an automatic knee-jerk reaction in their minds: red good, blue bad. Kind of sad when you think about it.

Clay, I think you are right... but many people vote on issues that don't align with my values or likely yours. For these people they don't have a choice.. There are decisive issues like abortion, social security or gay rights that if these are your priority issues you will vote for that candidate, regardless of the the other issues

How about the Liberal media machine? - CNN (Clinton News Network) who was so "unbiased," they are sold Obama t-shirts during the last presidential election; CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, PBS, Current, ad nauseum. Give me a frickin' break. Al we conservatives have is FOX, whom incidentally is the only one who admits which side (conservative) they are. You're side is a joke and not fooling anyone any longer. That's why FOX has all the viewership. Enjoy your fading influence. It won't last much longer, dying out along with all the Lib newspapers like the NY Times. Bye, Bye...

I love these kind of tools. If we all voted by issue the world would be a very different place. For one we would have a multi-party system... which might not be a bad thing.

I don't know what Paula or Clay are talking about, I live in a Liberal Stronghold, California, and I aligned with Romney at 93% and Obama at 25%.

is there more middle class or more rich people in the USA?
I'm tried of seeing the presidenty ran by rich people, i'd like to see a middle class person be president. I bet the middle class would become rich and the rich class become middle class. Boy is that a dream!

I wasn't going to vote for either Obama or Romney as neither care about the issues I do. I took the poll and I aligned over 80% for Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate. I immediately contributed to her campaign and I will be voting for her. Our system of debates and media coverage is a huge sham. There are almost 10 candidates running for President and we don't hear about any of them. We do not live in a democracy. Ms. Stein is on the ballot in almost every state and has enough support that she qualified for matching federal dollars, just like the big shots Obama & Romney. Why aren't these candidates allowed in the debates?? I'm sick of both the Republicans and Democrats. If you want real change, vote for one of the minor candidates.

the social system has been tried in many different counties and it failed. this is the only blessed country that still have incentives to work hard and do something for your self, your family and the people you hire on your way to your goals. wake up people, try to read about the communist and the socialists. try to call or talk to anybody was living in any of those communist of socialist country and you will learn a lot.

Lance - Your assessment misses two things:
1) Since FOX is the only 'fully conservative' "news" channel on the air, where is the conservative viewership going to go to? That one source. Whereas there are multiple sources for those who are more in the middle or lean left, thus splitting that viewership across many channels. This is why it appears FOX has 'all the viewership' but in reality it does not. It's arithmetic.
2) When is the last time you have watched CNN? They have moved more to the right in the last 2 years, and purposely so, to stay in the middle and to cater to moderates from both parties. MSNBC and Current? Yes - they lean left as FOX leans right.
P.S. - The NY Times is far from dying out. Readership for ALL print media is down across the board, including conservative publications like The Wall Street Journal, because the print medium is losing readership as it shifts to other sources (i.e. online). This is why they now charge for some online content - to make up for the loss in revenue from less papers being bought.
