One Year Anniversary: 'Snowtober' and Teele Square Fire
A year ago today, firefighters battled a massive blaze in Teele Square during a freak October snowstorm.
Oct. 29, 2011, was a Saturday, and it ended up being a memorable day in Somerville.
That night, in the middle of a freak October snowstorm, a large fire gutted a building in Teele Square. Firefighters battled the blaze all night and into the early morning.
The fire was determined to be accidental, though the damage was so severe the building, at 1154-1164 Broadway, was ultimately torn down.
A year later, there are still no concrete plans for the site, now a hole in the ground.
