Ana Sortun, owner and chef of Cambridge's highly acclaimed Oleana and Sofra Bakery and Cafe, is coming to Somerville.

Boston Magazine's "Chowder" blog reports that Sortun will take over the space formerly occupied by The Paddock at 249 Pearl St. The Paddock, which had a booth once favorited by James "Whitey" Bulger," according to one reader, closed in July.

Chowder reports the new restaurant will be a joint venture with Sortun and Oleana's chef de cuisine, Cassie Piuma, who will be a partner and executive chef at the Somerville location.

Piuma has previously worked at Sel de la Terre, Gourmet Caterers and The Butcher Shop, according to Oleana's website.

Sortun told Chowder the new Somerville restaurant will fit somewhere between Oleana and Sofra. "It will be more of a mezze restaurant and bar,” she told the food blog.

The atmosphere will be relaxed and it will have a full bar, Chowder says.

The new restaurant doesn't have a name yet, but it could open by this summer, according to the blog.
