A Melrose teen faces a charge of assault to murder after allegedly stabbing a man in a fight in Medford Square. Derik DeAngelo, 19, and another man were allegedly in a fist fight about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 26 near 35 Riverside Ave. when DeAngelo pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. — Jarret Bencks

A Monday night shooting near Cross and Henry St. remains under investigation Tuesday, with police emphasizing the attack was “not a random incident” in a neighborhood already struck by a drive-by shooting last August. —Chris Caesar

Man Shot Dead on Tremont Street
Police are investigating the killing of a man on Tremont Street. "Shot spotter," a system that detects gunfire, alerted police of shots fired at 3:38 a.m. Oct. 27. When they arrived at 1050 Tremont St., they found a wounded man. He was later pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center, police said in a press release. — Chris Helms
