Mudflat Holiday Reception, and a Gift Idea for Restaurant Lovers

Plus, two sales to benefit Somerville schools

1) Mudflat holiday sale reception
Mudflat, a center for artists and students who work in clay, is hosting a reception for its holiday exhibit tonight. Claywork will be on sale, and it's the first holiday sale in the organization's new space at 81 Broadway. Work by 75 artists will on display. The reception begins at 6 p.m.

2) West Somerville Neighborhood School vendor night
Enjoy one-stop holiday shopping at the West Somerville Neighborhood School tonight. There will be books, specialty items, food, chocolate … the works. The sale begins at 6 p.m., and all proceeds help the school.

3) Full Circle and Next Wave Christmas tree sale
The Next Wave and Full Circle alternative schools are moderate special needs schools in Somerville, and their annual Christmas tree sale begins today. Proceeds benefit the schools. The tree and wreath sale is in Foss Park and takes place throughout the weekend and next week. The hours are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

4) Gift idea: Boston Dining Cards
It's a deck of 50 cards, and each card has a $10 coupon for a local restaurant (good for when you spend $30 or more). At $20 for the deck, it could make a nice present for a restaurant-loving friend or family member. There are cards for restaurants throughout the Boston area, but some of the Somerville restaurants included in the deck are Fasika, Istanbul'lu, Ronnarong, Sound Bites, True Bistro and Tu Y Yo (you'd save $60 if you ate at each of them). Visit www.bostondiningcards.com for more info about the cards and where to get them. Here in Somerville, they're on sale at Grand, in Union Square.

5) Weather
Mostly sunny with a high near 50.
