Movie Mark Wahlberg Filmed in Somerville (Also Starring Mila Kunis) Opens Soon

"Ted" features an obscene talking teddy bear. It takes place in the Boston area, and Wahlberg was in Somerville last year to film a scene. Check out the trailer.

A year ago this month, Mark Wahlberg came to Davis Square to film a scene, for a movie called Ted, outside Somerville Theatre.

The movie, written and directed by Seth MacFarlane, best known for creating Family Guy, features Ted, a pot-smoking, hard-drinking, obscene, talking teddy bear.

When Ted isn't groping women or hiring hookers, he's getting in the way of a budding relationship between John, played by Wahlberg, and John's girlfriend, played by Mila Kunis.

Last year, hundreds of fans poured into Davis Square to watch Wahlberg film the scene, in which he dresses as Darth Maul, a character from Star Wars, and waits in line at the theatre.

See photos of the film shoot, including Wahlberg in costume.

The movie opens on June 29, an you can see a trailer here.

The movie is rated R, and you can see an adults-only trailer by visiting the movie's website.

I don't know. The theatre's schedule doesn't list screenings that far into the future. I just emailed the theatre, and hopefully I'll find out soon.

Just got an email back from Somerville Theatre. Yes, they will be showing "Ted" when it opens later this month. There's no word on whether the Somerville Theatre scene will make the final cut of the movie, though.
