Update: Elderly Missing Man Found

Joao Correia went missing at around 10 a.m. Sunday.

 

Update, March 3, 11:15 p.m.: Joao Correia was found in Charlestown Sunday evening, according to the city of Somerville.

Somerville police are searching for an 84-year-old man who was last seen Sunday at around 10 a.m. near Magoun Square, according to a constituent services alert sent by the city of Somerville and the city's Facebook page.

The man, Joao Correia, suffers from Alzheimer's Disease and speaks limited English. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (617) 625-1212.

Here's the text of the city's alert:

Hello, this is Jackie Rossetti from the City of Somerville with important information regarding a missing person in Somerville. Joao Correia, an 84 year old Somerville resident, has been missing from the Magoun Square area since 10:00 a.m. Sunday. Mr. Correia suffers from Alzheimer's Disease, and speaks Portuguese but very limited English. He is 5' 5" tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a checkered jacket and a light blue baseball cap. Somerville Police are asking for assistance in locating this man,and his photo can be found on the City website and City and police Facebook pages. Anyone with information should call the Somerville Police Department at 617-625-1212. Thank you.
