J.P. Licks Plans New Location at Assembly Row

An Assembly Square storefront would be the second Somerville location for the popular ice cream company.

J.P. Licks, which has 10 locations in the Boston area, including a popular storefront in Davis Square, is planning to open a second Somerville location in 2013.

According to an announcement sent on behalf of J.P. Licks and Rockland Trust, which is helping to finance the expansion, the ice cream company hopes to open in Assembly Row, the large new development under construction in Assembly Square.

J.P. Licks and the folks at Assembly Row are still working on making the deal final, according to the public relations officer who sent the announcement.

According to the J.P. Licks announcement, the ice cream company is also planning to open two other new storefronts in 2013: One at 1106 Boylston St. in Boston, and one on Market Street in Lynnfield.

J.P Licks is funding the move with a $4.5 million refinancing deal with Rockland Trust, the announcement says.
