How Do You Use Somerville's Fields? City Wants to Know

A survey asks about things like artificial turf, field lighting and sports.

The city of Somerville has created an online survey about the city's athletic fields and parks.

They survey, which you can take here, asks residents how they use parks and fields and what they'd like to see change or improve.

The answers will "help inform future use" of the fields, according to an announcement from the city.

In the announcement, Arn Franzen, director of parks and open space, said, "Playfields are a center for neighborhood activity, like going to soccer games or just relaxing with friends … This is a chance for you, the people who use the field, to give us valuable feedback in terms of how we may utilize these places better."

The survey asks people how they use the parks, and it has questions about things like artificial turf and lighting.

Some of these issues can cause strong opinions. Recent plans to rehabilitate Lincoln Park with artificial turf caused backlash among many in the surrounding neighborhood, for instance.

You may take the survey through March 26 at surveymonkey.com/s/MR7R3QD
