Five Things: Young Somerville Meeting, Antiques Seminar

Plus, a picnic and an art project.

 

1) Mayor talks to Somerville's young residents
The Young Somerville Advisory Group meets today at 6 p.m. at The Burren for a discussion with the mayor. The group represents people in the city who are between 21 and 35 years old, a group that represents 42 percent of the city's population, according to the listing.

2) Incorporating old-world touches into today's home
The Barn at 17 Antiques, in Somerville, is hosting a seminar today called "Living with History: How to incorporate old world touches in today's home." It's part of the Design New England spring salon series, and it's from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Barn at 17 Antiques is at 17 Murdock St.

3) Carnaval art workshop
Carnaval in East Somerville takes place on June 3, and today you can make kites and origami cranes for the parade. The art workshop takes place at 1 p.m. at the Somerville Public Library East Branch.

4) Somerville Arts Council picnic
The Somerville Arts Council is hosting a volunteer appreciation picnic today at Powder House Park. It begins at 6:30 p.m., and there will be food, drinks, frisbee and kickball games. No word on rain dates or rain locations, but you may want to keep an eye on the Somerville Arts Council Facebook page.

5) Weather and Red Sox
There's a chance of showers today, with highs in the upper 60s. The Red Sox play the Rays tonight at 7:10 p.m.
