Five Things You Need to Know Today: Roadwork, Laughs and Singing

Also learn how to read your child's report card.

Today is Wednesday, Nov. 3, and …

Roadwork is being conducted in Union Square, on Fountain Ave., on School St. (which is open only to abutters today) and on Washington St. (from Sullivan Square to near Rte. 28). A stepped-up plan is in place to finish disruptive roadwork before the Boston-bound lanes of Craigie Drawbridge close for about five weeks starting on Friday. For more on upcoming roadwork click here. For more on the Craigie Drawbridge project, click here.

You can learn to read your child's report card at Somerville High School tonight. All families are invited to this class where parents will learn about curriculum standards in local schools. More information here.

Davis Square farmers market is almost done for the season, so you should come out and enjoy it while you can. There are only three more markets after today. Fresh-cut flowers, grass-fed beef, artisan breads and pies, Taza chocolate and local cheese and honey are among the usual treats. There many more locally-grown products. For more information, click here.

Laughs are guaranteed at the Burren's comedy night, starting at 10 p.m. This weekly event starts right after pub quiz, 8-10 p.m. Come out for a drink and a few laughs at this Davis Square pub. More information here.

Or you can sing your heart out at Bull McCabe's, which is the place to be for karaoke on Wednesdays. Singing kicks off at 9 p.m. and goes until close. Oh, and did we mention it's $4 burger night? More information here.
