Five Things You Need to Know Today: Hula Dancing, ESL Volunteers and More

Mark your calendars today for Thursday's school closing.

 

Today is Monday Nov. 8 and today and...

Besides taking note that the Craigie Drawbridge is closed to inbound traffic for the next five or six weeks (read about it here) ...

  • It's time to say "Aloha" to your new hula dancing skills. Adult and children's classes start today. Defy the start of winter by signing up for the new sessions of beginner's hula dancing that start today at Third Life Studio in Union Square. Sign up the kid's for the children's afternoon class, or take the evening class yourself. For more info, please see our Events here.
  • Don't forget! There is no school for students or staff on Thursday, Nov. 11. Mark your calendars now. In honor of Veterans Day, schools will be closed on Thursday.
  • ESL Volunteers are needed. Volunteers interested in supporting English language learners enrolled in the Somerville Public Schools are invited to trainings on either Tuesday Nov. 9 or Tuesday Nov. 16 at 8:30-9:30 a.m. For details, please see our Announcements here.

I think you mean the last hazardous waste collection day. Not yard waste, which continues through November.

Thanks, Eric! We have a note on the hazardous waste drop-off planned for tomorrow and the yard wast note was a misreading of the Yard Waste Calendar (http://www.somervillema.gov/section.cfm?org=environ&page=266). Thanks for the catch.
