Five Things You Need To Know Today: A Half-Day For Some, All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet, Garden Club Meets and More

Plus: Three local pub events happening tonight.

 

Today is Wednesday, Dec. 8 and...

It's Half-Day Wednesday Once Again:

All elementary school students have a half day today. Dismissal for Pre-K students is at 11:30 a.m., with dismissal of grades K-8 at noon. 

All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Week

Starting today, you can stop by the Somerville High School's student-run restaurant, the Highlander Cafe, to chow down, All-You-Can-Eat Buffet style. The cafe is open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. this week. Reservations are preferred. For more information click here

Spend a Half-Hour At the Library:

Looking for a free way to entertain the kids? At 2:00 p.m., Tammy McKanan hosts the Half Day Half-Hour at the Central Library. Today's theme: Universal Human Rights Month. Note, the program is recommended for children 7 and older. For more information click here. 

Work On Your Green Thumb:

The Somerville Garden Club hosts its monthly meeting tonight. On the agenda: a plant Q & A, and a demonstration on how to decorate with evergreens. Garden Club members will share their expertise in creating wreaths, center pieces and other seasonal decorations. For more details, please see our Events listings here

Three Weekly Pub Events:

Feeling like heading out on the town? Well you're in luck. There's all sorts of fun and games happening: The Burren hosts both a Pub Quiz and a Comedy Night this evening. Or, if  you feel like singing your heart out, head to Karaoke at Bull McCabe's.
