Five Things: Somerville Bakes for Breast Cancer
Also, some Big Sisters and Little Sisters celebrate their one-year anniversaries.
1) Somerville bakes for breast cancer
More than 250 restaurants in the Boston region are participating in Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer, which begins today and runs through Mother's Day on May 13, according to an email from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Highland Kitchen, Kickass Cupcakes and The Independent are among the restaurants participating. As part of the week-long event, they have special desserts on their menus, and proceeds from those deserts will benefit Dana Farber and Bakes for Breast Cancer, Inc., a newly former non-profit.
2) Big Sister anniversaries
Two Somerville residents who serve as mentors with the Big Sisters Association of Greater Boston recently celebrated one-year anniversaries with their Little Sisters. Briana Pendleton celebrated her one-year anniversary with her Little Sister, Steniolla, of Medford, and Ruby Salter celebrated a one-year anniversary with her Little Sister, Franciana, of Cambridge. Congratulations Briana, Steniolla, Ruby and Franciana.
5) Weather and Red Sox
The Red Sox begin a three-game series against the Royals, in Kansas City, tonight at 8:10 p.m. Today will be sunny with temperatures reaching into the mid 60s.
