Five Things: Second Chances Clothing and Coin Drive

Also, learn job interview tips, log your summer reading, and hear about one of Somerville's community gardens.

 

1) Second Chances: Clothing and Coin Drive
Second Chances, a Somerville-run clothing donation organization, is running a clothing drive today at the Somerville Community Growing Center. Donate clothing, shoes, accessories and loose change. The drive takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

2) Job interview workshop
Learn how to ace a job interview and avoid common interview mistakes. The workshop is organized by the Tufts Neighborhood Service Fund, and it takes place at 6:30 p.m. at the main branch of the Somerville Public Library.

3) Spring Hill Garden
The Spring Hill Garden, located at Somerville Hospital, is entering its third year, according to an announcement from the Cambridge Health Alliance, which runs the hospital. According to the announcement, the garden provides produce to local organizations such as the Elizabeth Peabody House, Project Soup, CASPAR and the Cambridge Health Alliance's HIV food pantry.

4) Register for West Branch Summer Reading Club
Sign up for the West Branch Summer Reading Club at the Somerville Public Library, track your reading through Aug. 17 in a log book, and you could receive a bag of treats, a certificate and a new book, and you could be entered into weekly prize drawings.

5) Weather and Red Sox
Today will be mostly sunny with a high of near 101. If you're looking for ways to beat the heat in and around Somerville, check this out, particularly the excellent recommendations from some Somerville Patch readers. The Red Sox play the Marlins tonight at Fenway at 7:10 p.m.
