Five Things: Maple Syrup, Walmart, Happy Birthday

1) Tap some maple
As part of the Somerville Maple Syrup Project, Groundwork Somerville is inviting people to help tap maple trees today at 3 p.m. at Tufts University. Check out groundworksomerville.org for more information.
2) Walmart Meeting
The Somerville Coalition for a Responsible Walmart, which has concerns about a potential Walmart grocery store coming to Somerville, is holding a meeting today at 10 a.m. at 21 Properzi Way.
3) Poetry reading
Poet Mary Alexandra Agner will read from her new collection, The Scientific Mind, at 6:30 p.m. at the Somerville Public Library West Branch.
4) Foster parent info session
Learn what it takes to be a foster parent to children in the community who need a home. The session, run by Dare Family Services, is free, and it will take place every Thursday. The first session is today at 10 a.m. at 265 Medford St.
5) Happy birthday!
Somerville Patch wishes happy birthday to one of the city's loveliest residents. She knows who she is. Happy birthday!
