1) Ice Cream and Hot Sauce Takedown
An event called The Ice Cream and Hot Sauce Takedown is coming to Somerville's Armory on Aug. 26. Basically, it's a cooking contest for local cooking types who have killer hot sauce recipes or awesome ice cream recipes. The contest is still open to contestants, and tickets will be available soon.
2) Somerville's Northeastern University Scholar
Nathaniel Dempkowski, of Somerville, is one of 50 University Scholars at Northeastern University, according to an email from the university. Among other things, Dempkowski, a graduate of Somerville High School, was president of the Science League. As a university scholar, he receives a full tuition scholarship to the university. Congratulations.
3) Bicycle Committee meeting
The Somerville Bicycle Committee meets today at 7 p.m. at Somerville City Hall.
4) Two for Tuesdays
As always, head to Lower Broadway Tuesday nights to sample some great food and get a Two for Tuesdays deal.
5) Weather and Red Sox
The Red Sox play the Angels tonight at Fenway at 7:10 p.m. Today will be mostly sunny, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highs will be around 84.
