Five Things: Evacuation Day

Also, a fundraiser for the Healey School, the Somerville Homeless Coalition gets a check, and Somerville by Design.

1) Evacuation Day
Today is Evacuation Day, which celebrates St. Patrick's Day—oops, I mean, it celebrates the evacuation of the British from Boston in 1776. As a result, there's no school today.

2) Friends of Healey Brunch Fundraiser at The Independent
From the listing: "There's no school on Monday, March 18. So sleep late, then join us for a kid- and baby-friendly brunch or lunch. Twenty percent of the event's proceeds go toward field trips, Nature's Classroom, lunch-time concerts, school assemblies, and more at Arthur D. Healey Elementary" It's at The Independent at 11 a.m.

3) Somerville Homeless Coalition Gets a Check
Best Rate Insurance and Arbella Insurance Foundation recently presented the Somerville Homeless Coalition with a check for $1,000 for the organization's "Drive Out Hunger" campaign, food pantry and Project SOUP.

4) Somerville by Design
Tonight's "Somerville by Design" meeting is at the Argenziano School at 6 p.m.

5) Weather
Today should be sunny with a high around 37.
