Five Groups Want to Build Hotel in Davis Square

The Davis Square hotel would likely be a boutique hotel with about 100 rooms, according to the Boston Herald.

 

Correction: This article previously said one of the development partners was Denver's Sage Hospitality. In fact, it is Sage Management Corporation, with offices in Brookline. The correction has been made below.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE

Five development groups have put in bids to build a hotel in Davis Square, according to the Boston Herald.

Proposals were due Feb. 4, and the Herald reports the following groups submitted proposals to the city:

The Herald said the Somerville Board of Aldermen could vote on a hotel developer at the end of June.

The hotel would be built at the site of the Herbert and Day streets parking lot, where the Davis Square Farmers Market takes place.

I'm surprised. I didn't think it could be a money making thing considering the size they have to deal with. This should be interesting.

Will this be a dog friendly hotel? Will they have plastic pick up bags in each room in case my dog has an accident on the rug? Will they have a dog refrigerator with treats? Wll they have an extra bed for my dog? Will they offer dog grooming services? Will they treat my dog with respect he deserves? Will they give free dog biscuits? Will they offer dog walking services?

Let's hope it at least looks more aesthetically pleasing than the new building next to Rosebud.
I would vote for developers that have built aesthetically pleasing and successful run hotels.
