Fire Strikes Building Under Construction
The fire forced firefighters to tear the ceiling out of a building under construction near the Artisan's Asylum.
Somerville firefighters put out a fire at a construction site Friday afternoon.
At about 3:30 p.m., the fire struck a building under construction off Tyler Street, across the street from the Artisan's Asylum and behind Saint Anthony's School parking lot.
Deputy Chief Robert Lyons said the fire was in the ceiling above the garage space, between the first and second floors, and that it was a "pretty smokey fire."
"We had to pull all the ceilings down," he said.
No one was injured in the incident, according to the deputy chief.
It's not immediately known what the under-construction building is slated to be, but it looked like a condo development.
