Election Day, No School

Also, November's featured artist at Blue Cloud Gallery, and learning how to shoot video interviews.

 

1) Election day
Today is election day in Somerville. If you think issues such as property taxes, potholes, local economic growth, parking enforcement, schools, public safety, tree trimming, traffic, housing costs and trash pickup, among other things, are important, you'll want to vote.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check out our election guide to figure out where to vote and learn about the candidates.

2) No school today
Students in the Somerville public school system don't have school today, as it is a professional development day for teachers.

3) Sue Carlin at Blue Cloud Gallery
Sue Carlin is the featured artist for November at Blue Cloud Gallery in Ball Square. Carlin, who works in oil, paints colorful images of fruit, landscapes, and portraits, among other things. According to the listing, her work is reminiscent of Van Gogh and Matisse. She's on display all month at the gallery.

4) The video interview: planning, lighting, shooting
Learn to shoot video interviews at SCATV. Learn everything from choosing an interview subject to preparing for the interview, shooting, lighting, and editing. This class is run in two sessions, and the first session is tonight at 7 p.m.

5) Weather
Mostly sunny with a high around 70.
