East Boston Savings Bank May Come to Union Square

The bank would open a branch at 37 Union Square, according to an East Boston newspaper.

East Boston Savings Bank has filed notice with the Massachusetts Division of Banks that it would like to open a branch at 37 Union Square, according to the East Boston Times-Free Press.

The East Boston newspaper reports that, if approved by the Division of Banks and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Union Square branch would be the bank's 25th full-service branch.

37 Union Square is home to the Union Square Veterinary Clinic, which, according to someone who answered the phone there, has no plans plans—at least not to that person's knowledge—to move or close. Perhaps the bank would open its branch upstairs or next door.
