Drunk Panhandler Demands Money from Undercover Cop, Gets Arrested, Says Report

Another man was arrested for urinating in public after police broke up an unruly afternoon crowd at the Rite Aid parking lot, according to a police report.

After police dispersed a crowd of drunk men from the parking lot of Rite Aid in Winter Hill, one of the men banged on the window of an undercover cop car and demanded money, according to details from a Somerville police report.

Another wandered off to Jaques Street and was caught urinating in public, the report says.

It all happened Oct. 10 at about 2:15 p.m., according to the report.

Police were originally called to the parking lot of Rite Aid, which "has been the focus of increased police patrols due to citizen complaints," for a report of someone in medical distress, the report says.

Instead, they encountered a group of males acting in "an obnoxious and unruly manner," the report says (there was no one in medical distress).

After police ordered the men to leave the area, a police inspector watch one of them, 31-year-old Lemus Arevalo, walk to Jaques Street and commit a "successful act of public urination," according to the report.

Meanwhile, another man, 40-year-old Fernando Gonzalez, began to panhandle by yelling at pedestrians, the report says.

He eventually went up to an undercover police car and "pounded on the right front passenger's window and demanded money," the report says. He allegedly ignored verbal warnings to stop.

Both Arevalo and Gonzalez, who are listed as homeless, were arrested. Arevalo was charged with open and gross lewdness, and Gonzalez was charged with disorderly conduct.

Please remember that allegations contained in police reports do not indicate a conviction.

This is just one of the results when the mayor lets a large building sit unused for years. Why? Apparently he's waiting for a company that's worthy of Winter Hill to move in. He has turned away good companies and now that parking lot is a wasteland, and Rite Aid is caught in the back of it. Good job, mayor!

Typical cops. While they did warn the panhandler and the urination they should take into account that both are probably someone they should PC and let them dry off and as for the crowds of unruly people do some regular patrols and this crap won't occur. Less Dunkin donuts, more work.
