Candidates Running for State Office in Somerville This Fall
We also looked at countywide offices. All three of Somerville's state representatives will face an opponent. The city's state senator is running unopposed. At the county level, the race for register of deeds has the most candidates.
Towns and cities in Massachusetts will elect state representatives and senators, in addition to other office holders, during the general election on Nov. 6.
Party-affiliated candidates for state and federal office had until May 8 to submit signatures in order to appear on the ballot, and local election offices had until Tuesday to certify those signatures. (There are different deadlines for different offices. See the state's election schedule here.)
Somerville Patch visited the Somerville election office and contacted the state election office to determine who will be on the ballot this fall.
The state election office is currently working to make an official list of candidates, which will be released in late June or early July. Based on information from the election offices, below is a list of candidates who are running this fall to represent Somerville. All candidates are Democrats unless otherwise noted.

Philip M. Mitza of Autumn Street, Somerville, is running (at his choice) as a Republican Write-in Candidate for Representative in General Court.
He's vowed to stay in the race all the way to the general election in November, regardless of GOP primary results in September.
Therefore, the 26th is a four-man race to the end.

Out of all the people running for register of deeds I find Thomas Concannon to be the most qualified. I am a Somerville resident but don,t like the candidates running for this seat...again Mr. Concannon has the most impressive Bio.

i haven't read his bio, but fellow politicians know him as a guy who goes along to get along. no need to canonize him yet,
despite her overly kind support of developers and questionable development projects, hueston is certainlly the best candidate from somerville at this time. she has the possibilty of improving most as a public servant. freed from somerville politics, she may prove to be more independent than she is now.
also, she is endorsed by brune and provost, both of whom i respect.
does anybody know anything about the candidate from arlington?
