Burro Bar Expected to Open in Davis Square Tuesday

The new Mexican bar will feature food from Painted Burro, craft cocktails, tequila, a jukebox and possibly Mexican bingo.

Burro Bar, a new watering hole in Davis Square that's run by the folks at Painted Burro, a Mexican restaurant next door to the new bar, is expected to open Tuesday, according to a Painted Burro Facebook post.

A woman who answered the phone Monday at Painted Burro confirmed the new bar would open Tuesday at 5 p.m., even after the massive snow storm that practically shut down the Boston area over the weekend.

Burro Bar has been under construction for the past few months in the 217 Elm St. space formerly occupied by Spike's Junkyard Dogs.

The bar will feature food, craft cocktails, beer and Mexican bingo.

Grub Street Boston says it will eventually have over 100 beers and tequilas, a menu of tortas and a jukebox. The food website says Tuesday's will be a soft opening.

Square could use a nice steak house. It doesn't need more ethnic food.
