Boys Soccer Wins Division Championship

The team will play Needham on Nov. 14 as it vies for a state championship.

 

Somerville High School's boys soccer team defeated St. Johns Prep 1-0 Sunday to win the Division 1 North championship, according to the Somerville Youth Soccer League blog and Boston.com. The team will now contend for a state championship.

Sunday's game was held at Manning Field in Lynn. Boston.com reports that senior Felix De Bona scored the only goal in the game.

According to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association's website, Somerville will now play Needham, the Division 1 South champs, in the semifinals of the state championship tournament.

The game take place Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Manning Field in Lynn.

Leominster and Amherst are also contending for the state championship, according to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association's website.
