Bergamot restaurant on Beacon Street in Somerville was just named one of the fifty top "Fit for Foodies" restaurants in the United States by OpenTable, Inc.'s 2010 Diners' Choice Awards. Over 7 million reviews for more than 12,000 restaurants were submitted by diners who make use of OpenTable's online reservation website. Bergamot was one of three in the Bay State to come out on top.
Other area restaurants that made the cut include Craigie on Main in Cambridge, as well as O Ya and Menton in Boston.
Bergamot opened in the former EVOO space (at the intersection of Washington and Beacon Streets) early this year and has been steadily gaining fans since.
The menu features inventive takes on standards like plantain gnocchi or a dessert of goat cheese cake, as well as comforting carnivorous meals you might expect to find at a French bistro such as grilled flat iron steak, roasted lamb loin and pan-seared monkfish medallions. OK, we're hungry now. You too?
