Beacon Street Meeting Scheduled for Jan. 28
Those interested in plans to reconstruct Beacon Street should attend the meeting, at 6 p.m. at the Argenziano School.
Plans for the reconstruction of Beacon Street, which call for significant changes to parking and bicycle routes along the roadway, have led to a number of opinions.
There's a meeting about the proposed reconstruction effort on Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Argenziano School.

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Ward 2 Alderman Maryann Heuston and The Mayor's Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (OSPCD), invite all interested community members to an informational meeting on the project design for the reconstruction of Beacon Street. The meeting will be held on Monday, January 28th at 6:00 p.m. at the Argenziano School Cafetorium – 290 Washington Street. Hopefully the powers that be will listen to the people who actually live there and do the right thing and not kill off all their parking. Having lived down there a a number years I Know what it is like for the residenst and the business owners.

Also, hopefully the powers that be will listen to those knowledgeable about cycling safety and nix the wrong-headed separate cycle lane across multiple driveways and side-streets, which are against all best-practices and will lead to increased injury and death risk for cyclists. Frankly, a resurface with no other changes would be superior to the plans I've seen in terms of utility and safety for cyclists.

Tax bikes! They use the roads too. $1000 per bike per year isn't too much to ask.
