Men Arrested in Connection to Alleged Beatings, Extortion at Construction Office
Three men were arrested this week on charges stemming from the June 19 incident at NEQ Construction's office on Riverside Avenue. Witnesses who work at NEQ construction's office at 427 Riverside Ave. told police that the men entered the business that day at about 5:30 p.m., shoved a man aside who tried to greet them, then punched and kicked two other men who worked there and demanded $10,000 in "commission fees." One of the men, James Morando, 52, of Swampscott, threatened to kill one of the alleged victims' child, and another man, Timothy Hogan, 44 of Saugus, held a pen to another victims' eye and forced him to sign paperwork, according to a police report. William Albright, 40, of Medford, was also arrested. — Jarret Bencks

Charlestown Sends Three to NHL, One to Bruins
As if Charlestown needed more reason to cheer for the Boston Bruins, the B’s drafted Townie Matt Grzelcyk, who played his last season with the USA National Team Development program, in the third round of the NHL Draft June 23. The Nashville Predators picked Jimmy Vesey, who played last year with the South Shore Kings, in the third round, 21 picks before Grzelcyk. Rounding out the three, the Carolina Hurricanes picked up Brendan Collier, who ESPN Boston named Mr. Hockey for 2012. — Matt Casey

Alleged Assault Near 'Sketch Bench' on the Bike Path
A young male told police Wednesday evening that he had been assaulted by two teenage males near “sketch bench” on the bike path Monday afternoon. The male told Arlington Police that he was walking west on the bike path, between Water and Mill streets, at about 2:45 p.m. Monday when the two males, whom he pegged at 18 to 19 years old, confronted him. He said the teenagers asked him if he had anything on him, any weed or money, to which he replied, “No.” He said one of the teenagers then punched him in the left cheek, knocking him to the ground. He said the teenagers punched him in the head about four more times while he was on the ground. He eventually blacked out for about a half-hour, he told police, until his friend came upon him. — John Waller

Police: Officer Drags Screaming Woman from Mens Room at Daisy Buchannan's
A woman punched the bouncer at Daisy Buchanan's Bar and slapped an officer as he tried to escort her from the mens bathroom June 24, according to the police report. The woman was arrested at 2:09 a.m. and charged with assault and battery on a police officer. She reportedly started screaming when Officer Joseph Fawkes told her she had to leave the bar, then turned around and slapped him on the neck as he tried to escort her out. — Cate Lecuyer

North End Groups At Odds Over Haymarket Proposals
One of four development plans will soon give a much-needed facelift to a triangular strip of land—known as Parcel 9—tucked between Haymarket Square and the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The proposals range from an open air market to a museum, and save for one plan, are all holdovers from last year’s abortive attempt to get something done on the tract of real estate in question. — Andrew Jeromski

Family Sues Lansdowne Pub Over Death of Son in 2010
The family of a man killed at Lansdowne Pub in 2010 is suing its owner, claiming the bar didn’t keep its patrons safe enough at the time of his death. The estate of Michael DiMaria is seeking $4 million from Concorde Entertainment, the company that owns the pub, according to a wrongful death lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Boston Wednesday.On the evening of Aug. 14, 2010, DiMaria, 23 at the time, was struck by a shard of glass that broke off of a heavy beer mug thrown by another patron. —Jarret Bencks
