Annie The Missing Dog Has Been Found
Missing for over two weeks in Somerville and the subject of a substantial campaign to find her, Annie the dog has been found.
Update, 9 a.m., Aug. 1: We received an email from Somerville Police about the rescue. According to the email, a citizen who believed they spotted Annie on Central Street called the police. Officer Manzelli responded, climbed under a porch and safely rescued the scared dog.
In late July we posted some stories about Annie, a schnauzer mix who went missing in Somerville in the middle of the month.
Annie's owner, Stacy Landau, of Needham, told us about Annie, describing how the dog's adoptions always fell through how once, about a year ago, she escaped a bad adoption situation by living in the woods for 30 days.
Then in July Annie escaped again, slipping away from a pet sitter who had taken her to Somerville.
Landau and friends posted signs around Somerville asking residents to call if they found Annie, who is skittish.
Well, the signs worked.
According to a message posted Tuesday night to the "Annie is Missing" Facebook page, someone who saw one of the signs spotted Annie and called Landau.
Here's what the Facebook post says:
Annie is found & Safe!!!! Hiding behind the local Temple....someone that had seen her posters called....will update with a reunion photo as soon as it arrives. Thank you to all for caring and sharing and praying...Annie's family appreciates it more than you could know!!!
A few hours later, the Facebook page had a photo of Annie getting a bath, with a message that said:
Bath time it is!!! Special thanks to Julie who made the call that got Annie home & to the Somerville Police Dept. & Lt. Carrabino and all those that helped to get Annie's story out there...you all rock!!
Welcome home Annie.
