Amsterdam Falafelshop Nears Completion in Davis Square
The Washington D.C.-based falafel and Middle Eastern restaurant is opening in the site formerly occupied by Diva Lounge.
Amsterdam Falafelshop, which is moving into Davis Square, is getting close to being finished.
The Somerville Board of Aldermen Thursday night approved a permit for the restaurant's sign and awning. Walking by, one can see that construction is well under way.
The falafel shop is moving into 248 Elm St., the site recently occupied by Diva Lounge.
According to Eater Boston, the Washington D.C.-based Amsterdam Falafelshop serves Middle Eastern fare as interpreted by the Dutch. The blog says it specializes in falafel and fries and that it has over 20 different types of sauce and pickles.
Grub Street Boston calls it "the best falafel parlor in the known universe" and says it will open in June.
Based on the status of construction at the site, late June seems a likely scenario.
