A Facelift for McDonald's, Followed by a Cross Country Run

1) McDonald's facelift
The McDonald's in Twin City Plaza has a new look, with flat-screen TVs, free WiFi and a more contemporary atmosphere, among other things. To celebrate the facelift, McDonald's is planning a week of activities and specials, and today at 10:30 a.m. there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the mayor.
2) Highlanders varsity cross country
The cross country team will compete against Malden, Medford, Cambridge and Everett in the Greater Boston League Open today at 3:30 p.m. The race takes place at 200 Fresh Pond Parkway, Cambridge.
3) The Purple Rose of Cairo
Directed by Woody Allen and staring Mia Farrow, Jeff Daniels and Danny Aiello, a film character leaves the make-believe world of the cinema and enters the real world. It's showing tonight at 7 p.m. at the Somerville Public Library.
4) Stump! Pub Trivia
There's nothing trivial about $1 hot dogs and the opportunity to thump other teams with your massive brain. Trivia begins at 8:30 p.m. at Johnny D's.
5) Weather and Red Sox
The Sox play a doubleheader at home against the Orioles today. Game one starts at 1:05 p.m.; game two begins at 7:10 p.m. Today should be sunny, with a high near 68.
