He is also survived by aunt and uncle Joseph and Connie (Toppi) Monestere of Medford; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Richard, Paul, Ronald, David, Donna Toppi, and Margaret Kavanaugh.
He was born in Cambridge, February 8, 1940. Son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Walsh) Toppi. He was raised in the Cambridge and Somerville area. He lived in Woburn for seven years. He has been a longtime Tewksbury resident since 1979.
Joseph worked as a carpenter on heavy construction projects throughout Massachusetts.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union 217. He enjoyed playing card games especially cribbage. He was a world traveler with his wife and friends. Joseph had a great sense of humor and would always joke around. A favorite saying of his was "are you kidding me." He loved wearing his dingo boots and leather jacket. He enjoyed singing and impersonated Elvis.
His memorial service will be at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey St. on the corner of Dewey and (Rte 38) Main Streets. Phone (978 of 800 in MA) 851 2950.
