  • July 18, 2012

Two Somerville Residents Part of the Cast

This summer, transfer to Heartsville High, a high school where the chess champ is the coolest guy on campus, a magical matchmaker learns what it means to love, and everyone learns what it means to be tolerant and accept others for who they are. Heartsville High is the setting for Newton Country Players' summer production, Zanna, Don't! which opens August 3 at MassBay Community College in Wellesley Hills.

This musical fairy tale features a fun, hummable pop score. It’s a rare treat to see this show, when the Newton Country Players’ production opens, it will be only the fourth time this musical has been performed in Massachusetts.

Two Somerville residents are part of the cast.

Kevin Hanley plays the titular character, Zanna, who gives up his magical abilities and his own personal happiness in the name of love. Anne Olmsted plays both Loretta, a performer at the cowboy bar who takes care of the Heartsville High students who visit her establishment, and Roberta, one of those students.

Performances will take place August 3-4 and August 10-11 at 8 p.m. at MassBay Community College, located at 50 Oakland Street in Wellesley Hills.
