Thank You to All the Library Book Sale Volunteers

On behalf of the Friends of the Somerville Public Library I wanted to write in with a huge thank you to all our volunteers for stacking, sorting, and selling books over the Book Sale weekend (May 17-20) at the Central Branch.

And, another thank you to the library staff for bake sale donations and their hard work behind the scenes, as well as to Flagraphics and the DPW for our signage solutions. It was also fantastic to hear strings and vocals zooming through the open windows and doors of the library over PorchFest that Saturday; due to sets by Yani Batteau, Jordan Voelker and Flightless Buttress.

Between our loyal customers and the many new faces we raised a valuable sum to continue funding programs at the three Somerville library branches, including the ever popular museum passes. The books remaining after the sale have been given to local non-profit organizations. We are continually accepting book donations; any books in good condition may be left at the Central Branch on Highland Ave. Our next sale is planned for October 26-28, but you can look for us at ArtBeat as well.

Again, we are extremely grateful for the hard work put in by this diverse group.
