Midnight Madness at Davis Square This Thursday

Davis Square businesses will kick off the holiday shopping season with a midnight madness sale.

Somerville, Mass., November 16, 2011 – The Davis Area Resident/Business Initiative (DARBI) annual December Midnight Madness shopping event will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, Dec. 1.

At least 14 local businesses, primarily retail stores and restaurants, will take part.

Shoppers will be able to visit such Davis Square favorites as Dave’s Fresh Pasta, Magpie, Artifaktori, Kickass Cupcakes, Davis Squared, When Pigs Fly, The Boston Shaker, Suneri, Johnny D’s Uptown Restaurant and Music Club, Buffalo Exchange, Found, Comicazi and Sunshine Lucy’s.

In addition, Zipcar will have a special booth set up in Statue Park throughout the event.

Many retailers will offer live music, hors d’oeuvres and drinks to keep the atmosphere lively. Dave’s
Fresh Pasta will offer samples and tastings from several local and regional suppliers of fine food and drink. Johnny D’s will offer free admission to midnight madness shoppers and $1 hot dogs all evening.

Thalia Tringo Real Estate will host an art opening, “Elements and Artifacts,” featuring photographs by T.L. Litt and food and drink from local eateries. Some businesses will offer coupons or specials to shoppers during the event.

Artifaktori: art, antiques, clothing and shoes 

The Boston Shaker: cocktail supply shop 

Buffalo Exchange: consignment store offering an ever-changing inventory, including designer wear,
basics, vintage, jeans and jewelry 

Comicazi: winner of the 2011 Dig This! Awards for best comic shop; a leading collectibles emporium,
featuring an amazing selection of comics, graphic novels, toys, games and more

Dave’s Fresh Pasta: homemade pasta and sandwiches 

Davis Squared: sun, modern gifts for him, her, house and baby 

Found: new designer clothing consignment store 

Johnny D’s: Davis Square’s iconic nightclub, hosting local, regional and national acts with a restaurant
offering dinner and specializing in weekend brunch 

Kickass Cupcakes: maximum cupcake satisfaction 

Magpie: gifts made by emerging local artists and artisans 

Suneri: fashionable clothing, jewelry and shoes, featuring work from emerging designers

Sunshine Lucy’s: furniture store 

Thalia Tringo & Associates Real Estate: on the bike path, specializing in residential sales in the greater
Somerville area and featuring rotating exhibits of the work of local artists
